Sixth Grade Mathematics and Science

Sixth grade mathematics focuses on introducing algebraic equations, inequalities, graphing in the coordinate plane, ratios and geometry while reinforcing mathematical skills learned through fifth grade. Students do computation, work in groups, present their thinking and strategies, use manipulatives, play math games, and explore higher level thinking questions. Students have access to their mathematics textbook on their laptops as well as a traditional hardcover textbook. Students also have access to and are encouraged to use ALEKS, a self-paced instructional math website that provides lessons and assessments tailored to their textbook. Teachers work to meet every student's needs in order encourage their growth as independent learners while also making math fun!
