2011 Spring Social and Auction - Volunteer Opportunities

Join this fun and productive group of Saint Andrew’s parents and alum. We need your skills, creativity, and enthusiasm. Individuals are needed to assist in managing the various activities before, during, and after the Spring Social. Even the smallest amount of time makes an enormous difference. The volunteer opportunities are listed below, I encourage you to get involved, make new friends, and discover your hidden talents.

Live Auction-procure items from the community to be auctioned, set up auction at event, choose auctioneer, coordinate spotters for the event, provide bidding paddles

Silent Auction-procure items from the community to be auctioned, set up auction at event, provide bid sheets.

Online Auction - procure items from the community to be auctioned, web design, data entry, photograph items, follow up with payment and delivery

Underwriting - The underwriting team facilitates the collection of funds for items individuals, families or businesses have chosen to underwrite. This includes, but is not limited to bars, dinner wine, and casino games. Cash donations and teacher outing contributions are included as general underwriting opportunities, all of which help to defray auction costs. This task also entails publicizing the various underwriting opportunities (via a printed flyer, school website, etc.) and following through with the necessary paperwork for each donor.

Advertising and Sponsorship - contact local businesses, offer to publicize their business to the Saint Andrew’s community, additional perks available depending on donation level. Follow up phone call or visit is suggested.

Teacher Outings - coordinate with participating teacher’s and staff to help decide the teacher’s outing auction item, supervise door decorations, make sure there are no duplications

Class Gift - contacting the coordinators in each class, make sure they stay on timeline, and select appropriate basket themes for each grade level, and that there were not any duplications.

Decorations - Work on decorations monthly until the Spring Social. Take some projects home to work on, involves painting, stapling, gluing and just plain moral support. Put up decorations Thursday and Friday before the Spring Social.

Auction Paddles - finding a suitable paddle, printing and affixing #’s to paddles.

Auction Spotters - during Live Auction record highest bidder and provide necessary paperwork to complete purchase.

Raffle - prepare raffle tickets, be available to be on the plaza the two weeks prior to the Auction to sell and distribute raffle tickets.

Catalog Writer and Editor - write copy, proofread, layout design

Set Up and Clean Up - willing to pitch in where ever needed
