Lunch & Learn Tomorrow
Please join the Math Department tomorrow for a follow up to last week's Jo Boaler presentation. They will host conversation on the "Mathematical Mindset at Saint Andrew's" on Thursday, September 29th at noon in room 40. All parents are welcome.
Demystifying the Eucharist
Eucharist, also called Communion, the Lord's Supper, and other names, is a sacrament accepted by almost all Christians.

At Saint Andrew's Episcopal School, Eucharist is celebrated on the first Thursday of each month.  On Monday, October 3rd, School Chaplain Father Cameron Ayers will discuss how Eucharist is commemorated at the school, how students participate and how parents can be involved. Join us at 8:15AM in The Center for this informative conversation.

Board of Trustees Celebrates 100%
This is it! This is the year that our community is standing together to give 100% for our faculty and staff by supporting the Annual Fund. Mark Hary, Chair of the Board of Trustees, is excited that once again all trustees have given generously to achieve 100% in the Annual Fund. Learn more about how you can join in for 100% Giving to Saint Andrew's.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Don't miss one of the most fun services of the year in honor of St. Francis Day! Enjoy the parade of our parish pets and animals in all their barking, meowing, squawking, braying, splashing glory! Bring your dogs on leashes, fish in water, cats and other small animals in carriers please. Stuffed animals welcome, too! Kibble and cake afterwards. Woof!

LIVING ROOM CONVERSATIONS: A WORKSHOP FOR PEOPLE WITH OPINIONS
Saturday, October 8, 9 am - 12 noon, The Center
The Living Room Conversation (LRC) vision is a world in which people with fundamental differences of opinion and backgrounds work together with respect — and even joy — to realize the vibrant future we all desire. This summer we held our first Living Room Conversations at Saint Andrew’s and began to help make that vision a reality right here in our own community. We hope that you will join us!

LRC is the brainchild of Joan Blades, one of the co-founders of MoveOn.org, a very liberal online activist movement. She and other liberal and conservative leaders, including Mark Meckler, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, recognized that partisanship is polarizing our country. They had shared concern that people in America are not talking with each other — that we’re either on the left or the right with no one in the middle. Their concern led them to develop a format that supports conversation about difficult issues.

At the May diocesan workshop, six people from Saint Andrew’s tried the format and experienced talking about messy stuff in a way that felt energizing and holy. We want to share it with as many people as possible, so we committed to bring the program to Saint Andrew’s. The 30 people who attended our first workshop gave the program positive evaluations, and we look forward to continuing the discussions! For more information, contact Canon Linda, canonlinda@st-andrews.org. This workshop is free, but please RSVP to (408) 867-3493 or by email, so we know how many bagels to order.

Calling All Photographers!
From time to time the school needs Parent Photographers to assist with capturing an event, e.g. GrandFriends' Day, Lessons & Carols..., you don't need to be a photography pro but if you're willing to have special access to an event or big kudos in exchange for taking photos (or video) for the school, please contact Lisa Robinson at lrobinson@st-andrews.org.

Lifetouch Photography will be on campus next Thursday, September 29th to take photos. Students should wear their full dress uniform. Picture packages may be ordered on-line at mylifetouch.com. Our Picture Day code is BY416895Q0. (Order forms will be sent home by Thursday, 9/22, however if you order on-line there is no need to return a paper order form on Picture Day.)  Retake picture day will be Thursday, November 3rd.

In Service Day Care October 11th
The After School Care Team is offering child care on Tuesday, October 11th during the Faculty In-Service Day. Unlike after school care, students MUST be pre-registered in order to attend In-Service Day care.  It is a free dress day and students should bring a lunch from home.  Sign up for In-Service Day Care ASAP.
Parents Night Out
The After School Care team is offering you the chance to have a night out on Friday, October 14th!  Students will enjoy dinner, games and a G-rated movie with their Saint Andrew's friends while you and your significant other enjoy dinner out, get together with friends or just run some errands.  Care is available until 9:00PM and cost $4.50 per half hour or portion thereof.  Advance registration is required.  Sign up today.
Winter and Spring Athletics
It may only be fall, but NOW is the time to sign up for Winter and Spring Athletics.  If your 5th-8th grader is interested in Girls and Boys Basketball this Winter and/or Girls Softball, Boys Volleyball and Track in the Spring, sign up by next Friday, October 7th.
Check your uniforms
We've recently noticed students coming to school wearing items outside of the approved uniform policy.  Examples include: leggings on students older than Kindergarten, shoes laces that are not the correct color, non-MerryMart/Appletree sweaters, etc.  Please review the uniform policy and help to make sure that your child is in compliance each morning.
