Volume 55, Issue 7
October 14, 2015
Next week is National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week. Saint Andrew's will join individuals in over sixty countries around the world to celebrate our commitment to character development and the importance of social and emotional growth in children. This year we'll have a special area to celebrate
The Character In Our Community
. This activity allows all Saint Andrew's students and families to celebrate the different ways character is alive all around us! For each day of CHARACTER COUNTS Week, two tables covered with butcher paper will be set up on the Plaza. Students, parents, faculty and staff can write or draw examples of what character looks like, sounds like, and feels like in our unique Saint Andrew's community. Take some time next week to contribute your ideas! The week will also feature character-building activities and games, as well as our annual Buddy Lunch on Friday, October 23rd. No need to purchase/bring lunch that day - the school will provide pizza and sides. Students are invited to dress in the following CHARACTER COUNTS colors for the Buddy Lunch:
Pre-K and their fifth grade buddies - PURPLE
Kindergarten and their fifth grade buddies - ORANGE
First Grade and 6A / 6B - RED
Second Grade and 6C / 6D / 6E - BLUE
Third Grade and eighth grade - GREEN
Fourth Grade and seventh grade - YELLOW
Lost & Found is overflowing
The school's Lost & Found bin is bursting at the seams with left behind items of clothing, lunch boxes, notebooks, textbooks and more. We'll be placing all items from the Lost & Found on tables in front of the language portable TOMORROW and Friday. At the end of the day on Friday, any remaining items will be packaged up and donated. Please check the tables for any items that may belong to your child.
The Harvest Festival is Friday, October 30th
We have been working in strong partnership with our PAB about our Halloween Celebrations. We are very much looking forward to a day of fun on Friday, October 30th. We are hosting Harvest Festival on this day and are excited about the new format. Previously, Harvest Festival was held on a Sunday, and this year for the first time it will be held during the school day. There are lots of advantages to this such as making it an all school event, strengthening our Pre K- 8 school community, and developing our students as leaders.
